Day Four

Your tears won’t fall for forever

There are films that are ever so slightly perfect.

Day four, 72,264 words into book two, and it’s time to take a break … the slimmest of pauses and I delve into something I love. An away from home, cinema time, on a Devils’ night. Inspiration is a fickle friend, and what we love always echoes in what we create. The Crow, the original – not the recent travesty of a remake – directed by Alex Proyas, is a perfect gothic love story, a film of delicious dark beauty, with a soundtrack to die for.

As Eric Draven did. As Shelley Webster did.

But in the catharsis, James O’Barr, the writer exorcises his demons, Brandon Lee, bless his soul, realises the ultimate gothic angel, and the Cure wrote ‘Burn’ to score the tragedy of Eric’s transformational moment.

But remember …

It won’t rain all the time, the sky won’t fall forever, and your tears … they are your own. Cherish them.
