When Did Christmas Get So Complicated?

Well, I guess for Lauren, that was all down to the Red Marsh King …

Trying to write, edit, create post content, art and animations for ads, whilst at the same time bringing my past life to an end, and still find time to buy presents, write Christmas cards, decorate the house and generally sort all the crap that needs to be sorted before Christmas arrives, it’s an impossible task, for this indie author at least.

There are adverse and desperate consequences which mean I’m pretty certain I have forgotten to buy at least one of my children a Christmas present, and someone I’ve never met, in a country I’ve never been to, is likely to get an unexpected bottle of whiskey. I suppose that’s the magic of Christmas and while I will, with all seriousness, say that ‘The Red Marsh King’ is not a Christmas story or a Christmas book, I do love this time of year and the particular special kind of naffness that lights up gardens and sparkles in trees, a kind of made-up magic still strong enough not to sink under unfulfilled expectation and the world‘s current preoccupation with hypersonic missiles – not the great Sam Fender song, sadly, but the real thing.

Merry Christmas Everyone.
