Music Was Once …

Girls That Play – Etta Marcus

… such a large part of my life.

Lauren has her nails out for the battle, that’s for sure, even though the vinyl black varnish may be chipped, the nails split, and the skin raw beneath. Lauren wasn’t born a fighter. The fact she became one was all the Red Marsh King’s doing. As was the stealing of all hope she might once again play.

The first of ten great albums or E.P.s I discovered this year and Lauren would have loved.

‘The Death of Summer & Other Promises,’ is a delicious mix of trashy guitar and ethereal vocals, like a youthful Morticia Adams, iron straight hair and a misunderstood smile.

Well worth a listen.
