Procrastination

Procrastination is a story.

It might be backstory. A history of others. A story of heavy words lightly thrown and not easily forgotten. It could be a novella or a nine book epic. Whatever length, or genre, it is always fiction.

How many times have I put off going back and working on the second, ‘not totally shit’ edit of the next book? Countless and it’s never been about time or scheduling or productivity. I’m actually good at those things. It’s about a story. The story of ‘… is it good enough, will it ever be good enough, and why are you even bothering in the first place.’ All too familiar and repetitive, one that seems fresh again at the beginning of this, my new career.

But like all fiction it rarely stands the test of fact checking. And why?

Facts tend not to be quite so exciting, dramatic, easy to swallow, simple, or squeezed into short shareable sound bites.

Whatever you do to them, they remain facts.

And the fact here is … The only one judging me worth a damn is me, and if I enjoy the dark, trashy fantasy that is the book two of Lauren and Jake’s crazy story, then, that is more than good enough.

Here we go, ‘Back to the Work, Part Two.’ All I need now is a title.

The one I had is a tad too popular.
