There are places, and there are creations that give birth to the most delicious of fantasies, and this oldest of Ferris wheels, the Riesenrad, set in the delirious grounds of a surprisingly old-fashioned amusement park, is one of them.

This is perhaps one of the most iconic film locations. The place Harry Lime shared his thoughts on the human psyche and the origins of the ’cuckoo clock.’ There is something about the slow, majestic circle, both from within and when watched from outside, that is mesmeric and otherworldly.
And such thoughts dance in my mind.
