‘Low’ came out in 2013 as the lead single from the album ‘Feel.’ It helped the album debut at 3 on the Billboard 200. Sadly, only 36 on the UK official album charts.
It’s a complicated song. Emotional. Co-dependent. With themes of loss and questions around self-worth, themes very familiar to Lauren.
Lauren has never met Kellin Quinn, but his voice has shared her intimate despair more than most. He says he writes best when going through “hard shit.” Well, Lauren has gone through her own hard shit, and without the songs, she’s not sure she’d have made it.
Lauren listens to ‘Low’ while writing in her A4 Black Notepad, right at the start of Chapter 1.
The chapter was originally titled ‘Introductions, reasons and warnings.’
I always write with chapter titles, and then lose them in the edit. Mainly because they’re often song titles, and the companies who own the rights to music never seem to get back to me. The titles serve as my chapter outlines. I’m not much of an outliner.
